SPIRIT - The 2010 Essay Contest Winner

From the many student applications submitted to the 2010 SPIRIT essay contest, the SPIRIT team selected one student as the winner and two students as honorable mentions. The students' names, SPIRIT connection, and schools are listed below in recognition of their outstanding submissions. The winner will also receive an iPod nano. Congratulations to all of these students!

  • WINNER: Clayton Howard's connection to SPIRIT is his teacher, Mr. Justin Klyczek (a SPIRIT 2009 teacher). Clayton is a seventh grader at Rossville Middle School where he used Alice in his reading class.
  • Honorable Mention: Laura Iunghuhn met one of the SPIRIT instructors, Jessica Berger, at a Purdue workshop where she was introduced to Alice. As a sixth grader at Frontier Elementary School, Laura has created many Alice worlds, taught Alice to her siblings, and showed her worlds to her teachers and classmates.
  • Honorable Mention: Kylan Higgs's is an eighth grade student taking TV Production from Ms. Bev Martin (a SPIRIT 2009 teacher). Kylan attends Jennings County Middle School.
